Senior .Net Software Developer

Develops and creates efficient and effective solutions that meet user requirements. Designs, codes, tests and debugs programs which are in compliance with departmental programming standards and best practices. Participates in team-oriented development environment by keeping co-workers apprised on project status and collaborating to produce timely and high quality solutions. Prepares and communicates to customers the plans to implement new applications in live system environment. This position will work directly with customers who use the products that you develop. Must value customer service, like to have ownership in the work done, and be willing to understand the business requirements of the product you create. Job requirements:

  • Computer science-related Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree and equivalent industry experience.
  • Four plus years of C#.NET development experience.
  • Two plus years developing with the CSLA or similar framework.
  • Strong SQL skills (Oracle preferred).
  • Experience working with WPF preferred.
  • Experience with .NET 3.5 or 4.0 framework.
  • Strong grasp of software design patterns and effective development methodologies.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative problem solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into software requirements.
  • A strong desire to work directly with customers who use products that you develop.

Marketing Underwriter

Participates as an active team member of a multi-functional team by underwriting workers' compensation policies based on best business practices, team goals and objectives, sound judgment and all relevant facts. Develops and maintains agency relationships to achieve success with new business goals, retention of renewals and loss experience consistent with company and team goals and objectives. Responds to customer inquiries and conducts field visits with policyholders and agents. Continuously seeks effective relationships with team members, agents and policyholders by following best practices. Identifies trending and underwriting practices that could impact the team's book of business. Interacts with team members, policyholders, agents, loss prevention, premium audit, and technical specialists.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' underwriting (workers' compensation and/or casualty) experience required and can be substituted for four-year degree.
  • Professional insurance designations (CPCU, ARM) a plus.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of state applicable Workers' Compensation rules and regulations, NCCI rules and its application to underwriting.
  • Understanding of insurance finance.
  • Ability to evaluate accounts for acceptability and insurability.
  • Strong marketing skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills in order to interact in a team environment and to collaborate with other business units and a diverse group of customers.
  • Ability to assimilate, understand and analyze information from a variety of sources.
  • Strong math skills to calculate and evaluate policy premiums, loss ratios and retentions.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong computer skills (preferably in a Windows environment), and the ability to work in a paperless environment.

Premium Auditor

Participates as an active member of the finance team by performing accurate and timely workers' compensation premium and test audits primarily on accounts with medium to larger-sized premiums in order to determine the final earned premiums for our policyholders. Secures and summarizes all exposure information. Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills with team members, underwriters, loss prevention and policyholders by identifying new exposures and communicating audit results. Assists with training of internal premium auditors.

Job requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in finance, accounting, insurance or related field strongly preferred.
  • Two plus years' field auditing experience preferably workers' compensation and/or property casualty; or
  • Three plus years' internal auditing experience in workers' compensation and/or property casualty.
  • Knowledge of NCCI and state applicable workers' compensation rules.
  • Ability to identify routine sources of audit information.
  • Excellent math skills and strong knowledge of accounting practices.
  • Strong customer service and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication skills in order to interact in a team environment and effectively communicate with a diverse group of customers and other parties.
  • Sound independent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills (preferably Word and Excel).
  • Demonstrates positive teaming skills focused on team results.
  • Ability to operate and drive a car as regular travel by car is required.
  • Valid Minnesota Driver's license required.
