Corporate Giving Program

SFM strives to be a leader in the workers' compensation business and in the communities we serve.  As a specialized workers' compensation insurer, we partner with our agents, employers and vendors to keep employees safe at work and to return injured workers to health and productivity.  As a concerned and conscientious corporate citizen, we seek to invest appropriate company resources in nonprofit organizations and causes that improve and enrich the lives of people in our communities.

Contribution guidelines
SFM prefers to support local organizations in communities where our policyholders do business and where our employees reside. Because we are in the business of preventing and mitigating workplace injuries and of rehabilitating injured employees, and because we value our own employees and contract agents as our most important assets, we concentrate our charitable giving in the following areas:

  • Safety training and loss mitigation--programs designed to improve safety, especially in the workplace (e.g., workplace violence and/or domestic violence prevention programs).

  • Disabilities--programs that focus on training and rehabilitation for individuals with work-related or other disabilities.

  • Education--insurance industry education and post-secondary education, especially with repect to risk management, insurance and loss prevention-related programs.
  • Community/Economic development--programs that focus on business growth and vitality in the areas in which we operate.
  • Civic responsibility and enrichment--programs that enhance the quality of life for citizens in our area.
  • Research and prevention of diseases and other afflictions that have affected our employee population.

Contributions must be approved by a senior management committee and the President/CEO and are subject to an annual corporate giving budget. Recipient organizations may be listed in the Company's annual report and/or its Web site. Donations will be made either as a direct gift from the company or via matching funds as outlined below. Preference will be given to organizations in which SFM employees, directors or direct contract agents are involved.
