Company NewsHappe elected vice chair of national workers' comp reinsurance organization BLOOMINGTON, MINN., July 7, 2011 — Mike Happe, SFM senior vice president, business development and marketing, was recently elected to a one-year term as vice chair of the National Workers Compensation Reinsurance Association. Happe is in line to become chair in 2012. He also represents SFM on the board of governors for the National Workers Compensation Reinsurance Pool. The association is comprised of nearly 600 insurance companies across many states. Most states require carriers that sell workers' compensation insurance to also fund pools that cover injuries for workers at companies that cannot obtain coverage on the voluntary market. The association is a national pooling mechanism that reinsures these risks.
