Filling Work-Related Prescriptions Through Express Scripts

Your injured employees can take advantage of Express Scripts' pharmacy benefit management program where they can fill work-injury related prescriptions with no out-of-pocket expenses. Plus, using the program results in lower charges for pharmaceuticals, which ultimately helps control your claims costs and workers' compensation premium.

SFM offers a prescription first-fill program for injured employees. They can take a "Workers' Compensation Temporary Prescription" card to the pharmacy to have the initial prescription filled with no out-of-pocket costs.

Ongoing or future prescription fills for the work injury should be filled with the "Prescription services identification card" that SFM sends to the injured employee within a week of receiving the First Report of Injury.

Encourage your injured employee to go to a pharmacy in the network, which includes large chains like Walmart, Target, Snyders, Cub Foods and CVS as well as many local neighborhood pharmacies. Look up participating pharmacies on ExpressScripts.com.

The participating pharmacies are listed on the "Getting prescriptions filled" sheet that SFM's sends to the injured employees. The sheet also includes the employee's personalized tear-off "Prescription services identification card" for his convenience.

The employee can show the card to the pharmacist and won't need to pay up front or submit paperwork to be reimbursed. A bonus for the employee.
