Choosing a medical provider
Using PPO network helps control work comp costs
Through an arrangement with CorVel Corporation, SFM policyholders and their injured employees are able to access an extensive preferred provider organization network of more than 15,000 medical providers throughout Wisconsin. They include physicians, occupational specialists, surgeons, neurologists and chiropractors.
Using providers who participate in CorVel's "CorCare" network means:
Lower medical costs. Billings from these providers are reduced below "usual and
customary" charges. Lower costs help control your worker's compensation premiums.
Quality care. Network providers have met CorVel's credentialing requirements. High-quality care helps you retain good employees who've gotten hurt, and it controls expensive wage-loss benefits by bringing employees back to work as soon as they're able.
You can start using the network today.
You don't need to wait for anything or enroll in anything. To use the network:
1. Look up the providers in your area. For listings, go to CorVel's website www.corvel.com and click on "Provider Look-Up" link.
2. When an employee is injured, encourage him or her to go to the CorVel network provider you have an established relationship with, or to another network provider if the employee needs a different location. Bookmark CorVel's online listing of network providers so it's handy when you need to refer to it.
3. If you're looking for a new clinic to establish a relationship with, you are encouraged to select one that's in the network.
Questions about the CorVel PPO network, please call your SFM claims representative.
Prescriptions: You may have an opportunity to help an employee decide where to get refills
You should encourage the employee to go to one of the pharmacies listed in a letter he will receive from SFM. The pharmacies are listed on a sheet titled "Getting
prescriptions filled." The sheet also includes the employee's personalized tear-off Prescription services identification card.
Please call the employee's attention to this
prescription card so it's not overlooked.
By showing his card to the pharmacist when he picks up his prescription, the employee won't need to pay up front or submit paperwork to get reimbursed. Those are advantages you can mention to the employee.
The pharmacies listed in the employee's letter participate in a network of several hundred pharmacies in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It includes large chains like Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Target, Snyders, Rainbow, Cub Foods and Kmart as well as many local neighborhood pharmacies.
Thanks to a special SFM arrangement, presenting the ID card at these network pharmacies will result in lower charges for pharmaceuticals--and ultimately will help control your claims costs and
worker's compensation premium. |
