According to the American Medical Association (AMA), more than 40 states have reported increases in opioid-related mortality since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

This increase may be partially attributed to the recent closure of many treatment centers. In a recent survey conducted by the Addiction Policy Forum, 34 percent of respondents reported inability to access recovery services.
