COVID-19 brings new challenges for those with opioid use disorder

According to the American Medical Association (AMA), more than 40 states have reported increases in opioid-related mortality since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

This increase may be partially attributed to the recent closure of many treatment centers. In a recent survey conducted by the Addiction Policy Forum, 34 percent of respondents reported inability to access recovery services. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) offers help locating treatment and recovery centers at samhsa.gov/find-treatment .
