November 13-17, 2017 is to be officially known as Kids' Chance Awareness week in Minnesota and Iowa, thanks to separate proclamations issued by the governors of both states.
Governor Mark Dayton of Minnesota and Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa chose to designate this week to recognize the important work done by Kids' Chance of America to help the families of injured workers in their states.
According to the official language of the proclamations, they were issued "in order to increase the visibility of Kids' Chance organizations across the country and to spread the word about scholarship opportunities."
Kids' Chance of America is a national nonprofit that creates, assists and supports organizations across the United States that provide educational opportunities and scholarships to the children of workers who were seriously injured or killed on the job.
SFM Foundation is an affiliate of Kids' Chance of America, and is also known as Kids' Chance of Iowa and Kids' Chance of Minnesota.
